Job Application Checklist

Before you send in a job application, you should double-check against the following the checklist to make sure you are not forgetting anything on your application:

  • Did you document your education, fully detail all experience, knowledge, and skills in your application?
    Failure to fully detail all experience and job duties in the application or copying/pasting directly from the job specification, or responses referring to your résumé will eliminate you from consideration for the position.
  • The questions regarding relatives employed with the City of El Paso or relatives who contract with or are vendors with the City of El Paso must be answered completely.
    You must list relative names, relationships, and the department that they work.
  • Did you provide hours per week for each place of employment? Work experience must include dates and hours per week.
    Employment dates must not overlap. Do not combine different positions into one work experience.
  • Did you update your work history to reflect most current place of employment?
    The most current place of employment should be reflected on your application.
  • If the position requires supervisory experience, have you fully detailed your duties as a supervisor?
    Supervisory experience must include all duties related to supervision and number of employees under your supervision.
  • In your application, have you provided an email address that you check frequently?
    Check your email frequently during the recruitment process and add [email protected] to your address book to avoid emails being filtered to spam.
  • You must have a valid email account to apply. The email address will only be good for one account.
