As we now enter summer and attend hot weather events, there are some points that everyone should be aware of. Most of us live in an air conditioned home and work in an office well air conditioned, so as we attend an event outdoors our body is unaccustomed to the heat of the sun and increased humidity.

Because of this extreme heat that we often experience with our El Paso weather some people and animals will experience heat related problems such as: heat cramps, heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

If someone is suffering from these conditions especially heat stroke or heat exhaustion - GET HELP IMMEDIATELY! Get them out of the heat, remove the outer layers of clothing, and loosen any tight clothing, lay them down with their legs elevated, fan them and keep them wet and cool.

If an animal is experiencing any of these symptoms - GET HELP! Take them to a veterinary! If you see them with rapid breathing, dry mouth and nose, rapid heart rate, and gums are grayish pick or red they are experiencing early stages of heat stroke. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!
