Sun Metro, the City Mass Transit Department, is one of the largest City departments with over 650 employees and an annual budget over $42 million. Sun Metro offers Fixed Route and Paratransit bus service within the El Paso County and throughout the City of Sunland Park, New Mexico. Job Express is another service of Sun Metro to support those individuals transitioning from welfare to work by providing transportation to job training, education, employment and childcare destinations.

At Sun Metro, fleet modernization and high priority capital projects are aggressively pursed to secure the future of the Mass Transit system. Sun Metro actively obtains funding to purchase new buses to ensure a continuum of service that meets current and future needs.

Effectiveness and efficiency are also enhanced by high priority capital projects that are expected to increase community partnerships and revenue streams.  Exciting public initiatives include International Terminal, Mesa Street Terminal, Mission Valley Terminal, Westside Terminal, Far Eastside Terminal Great Streets, Transit Advertising and Accessibility and shelter improvements.

The diversification of services will continue to allow Sun Metro to provide affordable service for the people of El Paso and surrounding areas.
