El Paso offers residents at least 300 days of sunshine per year, so it just makes sense for the City of the El Paso Sustainability Office to commit to support and grow the community’s clean-energy industry by investing in solar projects.
Starting Dec. 1, 2010, the City and El Paso Electric will provide about $1.3 million in financial incentives, or rebates, to customers who install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, also known as solar-energy systems, in their homes or businesses. The rebates are intended to help reduce the up-front costs for installing a solar-energy system.
Solar PV technology generates electricity using the sun’s energy. These systems allow you to reduce your energy costs by creating a portion of the electricity you need to power your home or business while helping the environment.

Please remember, El Paso Electric customers must work with registered PV service providers to apply for the solar energy rebates. Click here to see a current list of registered service providers.

This collaboration with El Paso Electric is a stepping stone in furthering our goal to make clean energy a core business sector in El Paso through aggressive use of partnerships and incentives.
While there is still a lot of work left to do when it comes to solar power in the Sun City, we remain committed to taking advantage of our renewable resources to generate clean cost-effective energy in an effort to become an internationally recognized clean energy center for research, development and manufacturing.
