2004 Bond Capital Improvements Status
On February 7, 2004 an
election was held to vote for a Capital Budget to benefit
neighborhoods and improve services citywide. The
voters passed 10 proposals that
included projects to improve parks, flood control, streets and
drainage, emergency and health services, accessibility,
libraries, and municipal facilities and equipment.
This site is designed to assist you with tracking the progress
of the bond projects through the posting of periodic status
reports. Most projects are listed here by City Council
district and some are listed as Citywide. Projects and
acquisitions listed as Citywide are those that have a community
impact and occur across district boundaries or are determined by
the office of the Mayor.

As of July 5, 2004, there are now 31 projects under construction, 11 in the bidding phase and 15 in the design phase. To date 7 projects are completed (Public Safety Communications, Eastside Senior Center, ADA Compliance Districts 1 & 4, Pasodale Intersection, Channel #1 Fence, Billy the Kid Street & Drainage Phase I, and Marshall Bridge) with 3 more (Nations Tobin Roof, Pavo Real Roof and Leo Cancellare Pool) to be completed in the very near future.
Although some projects are not visible, such as the purchasing furniture for the new Lower Valley Library, they will have immediate impact on their neighborhood. The median landscaping projects along Montwood, George Dieter and Pebble Hills Streets will improve the look of these major arteries. Public safety will be bolstered by the construction of Fire Station #33 on the East Side with Fire Station numbers 34 & 35 in design by architectural firms. Please return to this site in the future for more updates.
