Auxiliary support - Youth Initiative Program
YIP Supervisor: Sgt. Glenn Shelley
Staff: Nell Tovar (Coordinator)

Mission:

The mission of the Youth Initiative Program (YIP) is to promote and support community partnerships and collaborative efforts to address youth issues, including prevention and early intervention.

Strategies:

The Youth Initiative Program brings together all facets of the community by providing a networking forum that allows agencies and citizens to actively participate in impacting the problems that affect youth. Enlisting community opinions, building trust, fostering relationships, participating in community groups, and developing programs, serve to strengthen community involvement, reduce duplication, and expand access to services.

Monthly meetings - held the third Thursday of each month at the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, assembly room, at 5300 E. Paisano, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Monthly Newsletter - to submit an article or to receive the newsletter, please fax to (915) 564-7098 or e-mail to TovarM@elpasotexas.gov.

Helpline Directory PDF - referral to area agencies dealing with youth issues

The Multi-Agency Referral System (MARS), developed by YIP and in partnership with school districts, provides services for the student. MARS is implemented in schools in the El Paso, Ysleta, Fabens, and Socorro Independent School Districts.
