We are always striving to find improved methods to reach out to our community,
whom we serve, and have improved our services greatly in this area. These improvements
are actions based on the numerous requests for services that we receive on
a regular basis.
Our goal is be able to provide these services to each of you without requiring you to have to physically come to us. Here are some service items of interest that should be to your benefit, should you ever need them:
On-Line Services - All of the listed services are now available online at the EPPD homepage.
LARGE FUNCTION PERMIT
GRAFFITI COMPLAINT
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT
TEXAS DPS FORM ST-2 (for accident reports)
SECURITY ALARM PERMIT APPLICATION
Request for Copy of Driver's Accident Report
Crime Statistics for the Northeast Regional Command Center - A popular request, have been available online for some time. (Go to eppd.org, and check on the command center, select the N.E., and you will see the listing of both crime maps and crime tables, which are updated weekly.)
Citation Search - Compliments of the municipal court system, you can now go online and search information on citations (https://www.elpasotexas.gov/municipal_court/citsrch.asp)
As you can see, we are taking advantage of the Internet, the "information highway" to better serve you. You will find these very convenient.
See you next month, or, go online and see what's new at the NERC by going to our webpage at http://www.elpasotexas.gov/police/northeast.asp

All PAR sections (for the department) have been assigned to spearhead Operation Clean Street, an effort to get compliance from the citizens of El Paso in the voluntary removal of junked vehicle from their respective homes and/or property, or face the issuance of citation (s). In an effort to better enlist the cooperation of both the officers from the N.E.R.C.C. as well as citizens from the community, Officer S. Davis 1496 has undertaken the responsibility of creating a power point presentation. To educate the officers on patrol, as well as an educational notice to distribute to homeowners and others who would be in violation of the targeted ordinance(s). His enthusiasm and effort has led to a simple, yet extremely effective information package for all to use (other police regions included) to effectively and efficiently train patrol officers who will be involved in making this operation successful.

Summer is approaching fast and it's time to remind citizens about "Target Hardening." We use this term as a crime prevention tactic to ensure that your property is resistant to burglary and theft. There is no place I know of that is 100% burglary proof. But we can all make our homes and businesses difficult to break into, increasing the amount of noise, time and trouble it takes to compromise. Thus the term, "Hard Target."
In the summer burglaries and thefts tend to increase because of our inattention to potential threats. We leave our garage doors partially or completely open, we leave gates open or unlocked, we leave front and rear doors open, and we leave our car windows down and the doors unlocked. Just because you're home doesn't mean your property is safe. How long does it take for someone to walk from the sidewalk to your front door and back again? That's just how long it takes for someone to take property from your open garage or front porch.
Be suspicious of cars cruising the residential streets. Be wary of anyone ringing your doorbell with suspicious excuses (does so and so live here?). Do they just want to know if you're home? Be wary of strangers walking around in your neighborhood. Get a description of the person or car and call it in. Let us check it out and help us keep our neighborhoods safe this summer.
The Police Department will soon be promoting a new Operation ID Program. Start now by identifying your expensive property items that are the targets of a burglary or theft. Common items include entertainment electronics such as TVs, VCRs, DVDs, game stations, stereo systems, cash and jewelry. Always record the make model and serial numbers of expensive products.
Here are a few basic tips on safeguarding your car. Always keep the windows up and doors locked, even in the summer. Keep your packages, purses and anything of value out of sight or in the trunk. If you have an expensive stereo system, have the product information and serial number handy in case it's stolen. Remember, car burglars go after what they can see inside your vehicle; not what they think might be there.
Be smart and be safe this summer.
