Guy Ray Myers Jr, Motorcycle Officer
Born: December 2, 1942
End of Watch: July 24, 1970
   
Officer Guy Myers Jr. was responding to a traffic accident on Friday morning, at 10:55, July 24th, when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Fern Schmitz, of Arcadia, California. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at R.E. Thomason General Hospital. According to witnesses, Officer Myers was driving his police motorcycle, with lights and siren, North on Yarbrough when the car driven by Mrs. Schmitz pulled in front of the motorcycle after stopping at a stop sign. The motorcycle collided with the car and was thrown 54 feet from the point of impact. Officer Myers was found near the motorcycle. Mrs. Schmitz was arrested and charged with Neglegent Homicide. Officer Myers, a Bel Air High School graduate and University of Texas El Paso student, was survived by his wife Dolores Ann, their son Kenneth and daughter Desiree Anne. He was a 4½ year veteran of the Police Department. Source: El Paso Times
