Women in Policing
Chief of Staff Diana M. Kirk is a native El Pasoan. Chief Kirk was recently inducted into the El Paso Women's Hall of Fame in recognition of her personal and professional lifetime accomplishments and the example that she sets for women in law enforcement. She graduated with honors from Hanks High School in 1982. She subsequently attended Angelo State University and the University of Texas at El Paso on an Academic Scholarship. She later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Management / Computer Information Systems from Park University in 2001 and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from Webster University. She has served as an El Paso Police Officer since 1985, during which time she has served in the ranks of Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Commander, and Executive Assistant Chief of Police. She currently oversees the Office of Administration and Support Services, which is comprised of the Support Services Bureau, the Special Services Bureau, the Training Division, the Financial Services Division, the Police Communications Division, the Police Records Division, CALEA, Special Projects and Grants. On May 23, 2004 she was appointed to serve as the Chief of Staff (2nd in Command) under the leadership of Police Chief Richard D. Wiles. Chief of Staff Diana M. Kirk is the highest- ranking female officer in the El Paso Police Department and the first female to serve in the capacity of Chief of Staff in the history of the El Paso Police Department.
