A MAN IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER

An unknown suspect is impersonating a Peace Officer. The El Paso Police Department is requesting community assistance in identifying him. The suspect is conducting traffic stops and has made sexual advances toward two female drivers. The first incident occurred on September 9th at 2:00 am in the Pebble Hills area. He was driving a White Ford Crown Victoria and wearing a dark Law Enforcement Uniform. The second incident, on September 16th occurred at 12:30 am in the Northeast area. This suspect was driving a gold or metallic Ford Focus and he was wearing a beige shirt, a shoulder holster with a handgun in the holster.

The El Paso Police Department has issued this warning and advises that if a motorist is being pulled over, that the driver go to a well lighted and populated area. It should be noted that traffic stops are almost always conducted with a marked unit. Officers have been told to expect that motorists will be more cautious, so they will be stopping in safe areas.
