Step 1: Obtain application.
Applications for current job openings may be obtained in person Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Mountain Standard Time at the:

To receive a cyber copy of an application with instructions for a current opening, please select the “Obtain application forms for this position…” link, located under each position. All forms necessary to apply for this position are located here.

Step 2: Submit application.
All applications with *supporting documentation must be received by the Human Resources Department (or as advertised on the job announcement) no later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the advertised filing period. Email option: Applicants who are not City employees may send a completed applications with supporting documentation to EPApplications@elpasotexas.gov

Please note that we ONLY accept applications or résumé for current job openings. We cannot process applications or résumés that do not specify a position that is currently being advertised.

*Supporting documents may include: High School or College Diplomas, High School or College transcripts, Driver’s license, Typing Certificate, other pertinent Certificates or Licenses required for employment, and/or supplemental forms one and two.

Step 3: Take examination.
Applicants may be invited to take the entrance examination depending on qualifications. Examination dates and times are posted with each position. Most exams are administered in the Human Resources Department’s Testing Room (or as advertised on the job announcement).

Additional information:
Applicants must provide one copy of each of the following documents with the completed application: High School Diploma/GED or college transcripts if applicable, and DD Form 214(s) member 4, to qualify for veteran points.

Diplomas & Transcripts
Jobs requiring a Post secondary Education or Accredited program must be received by an Accredited Agency &/or State approved agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.  A complete list can be found on the U.S. Department of Education Website:

Duties and minimum qualifications for each position vary. Click on the link for a complete listing of job descriptions and salaries. All classified City positions are paid according to one of the following pay schedules. These are listed in alphabetical order: Executive (EX) Fire Services (FS), General Services (GS), Police (P), Professional Managerial (PM), and Recreation (REC).
