The Gus and Goldie Swim program classes are designed in progressive
levels organized as corrals. New skills are introduced and previously
learned skills are reviewed. At each step more endurance and stroke
ability is expected. The pre-requisites for each class is successful
completion of the preceding class or instructor approval. Report
cards are presented to each participant at the end of the session
marking the skills they mastered and their progression in the classes
or corrals. A variety of teaching methods are used including dancing,
playing games, individual and group practice, and experience with
swimming aids such as kick boards and diving rings.
The Gus and Goldie Learn to Swim Program offers swimming lessons
for participants of all ages starting with a Parent/Baby class for
those 6 months to 3 years. A pre-school class is designed for children
3 to 5 years old. School age children to senior citizen classes
are offered based on a brief pre-test to accommodate placement level.
Each summer session lasts two weeks (Monday – Thursday) which
totals eight classes of 45 minutes each. Fall, Winter, and Spring
Season classes are offered on a monthly basis with classes held
twice a week to total eight classes.
Private classes are also available in 45 minute increments.
A FREE pre-test will be provided for new participants at
indoor pools to determine class placement level.
Pre-test form MUST be presented at time of registration.
Open registration starts one month prior to class session and those
unable to attend scheduled pre-test will be tested at the earliest
convenience. Call your local pool for times.
