Open Space Master PlanThe mountains, the desert, the river…El Paso wouldn’t be the same without them. Yet as our city grows, the special places our families remember are disappearing one by one.
The El Paso Open Space Plan gives you the opportunity to say which natural areas around us are most important to you. Through the Plan process the City will work with the community to identify and preserve these special places for future generations to enjoy.

The Open Space Advisory Committee met several times over the past few weeks. Committee members came from various sectors in our community--developers, conservationists, business people, media, tourism, real estate, etc. As a result of those discussions, the group has put together preliminary recommendations to preserve open space in and around El Paso. The map, entitled Potential Prioritization Areas, shows the geographic layout of the surrounding area, marked with those areas the committee is interested in preserving. The group also developed a table of priorities.

Working Draft Concept Maps

The links below show the first working concepts of Open Space hubs and links that were derived from the Public Input meetings. The different types of open space land, as shown in the legends, represent conceptual categories that will be refined later. Locations shown on these maps include public requests and do not represent a final Open Space Plan or an official document of the City of El Paso.

More work will be done on the Plan maps by the Open Space Advisory Group, the Development Serivces Department and their Consultant. As the maps are updated they will be posted at this location.
