Scherr Legate Celebration of Lights - 2018
This is the first year of the Scherr Legate law firm becoming the title sponsor of the Celebration of Lights, an event that has been hosted in downtown El Paso at San Jacinto Plaza for decades.

This Holiday tradition celebrates the continuing century old tradition of gathering with friends and family in downtown and enjoying the holiday season with brand new breath taking displays.
The new Paseo de las Luces area on Stanton St. is a sight to behold with the visual enhancements that are a true delight for individuals of all ages to enjoy.

The public can enjoy more than 400,000 mini-lights on 120 trees along with a 30 ft. tower tree with holiday decorations and many holiday decorations with several large, interactive lighted displays.
The live 55 ft. Christmas Tree at San Jacinto Plaza donated by Corrine Boyce of El Paso in 1998 in memory of her late husband Charles (Chuck) Boyce continues to be part of the San Jacinto Plaza holiday experience.
WINTERFEST is another major exciting event in downtown El Paso that will dazzle your minds and capture your hearts in this yearly event sponsored by the Hospitals of Providence and the Providence Children’s Hospital.

The Scherr Legate Celebration of Lights also has a special tradition that goes back to 1994 with Candlelighters of El Paso as each year the organization selects a child that will flip the switch along with the current Mayor (Mayor Dee Margo) and title sponsor (Scherr Legate) to light up downtown with the many lights, decorations and family themed ornaments that dominate the heart of downtown in San Jacinto Plaza.
The Scherr Legate Celebration of Lights is hosted and organized by the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department along with many other city and civic partners making for a tremendous partnership along with Destination El Paso with the famed WINTERFEST.
Flipping the switch to light up San Jacinto Plaza
After the downtown Plaza has been lighted another fun, exciting and breathtaking event happens with the Light Parade that is the only Light Parade in El Paso, Texas that invigorates the crowd along the 1.7-mile long parade route.
Throughout the night of excitement, parade goers, family, and friends there is also great entertainment for all ages.
