ACTION TAKEN: POSTPONED ONE (1) WEEK AND TO DIRECT STAFF TO DRAFT A LETTER TO SENATOR SHAPLEIGH ADVISING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL HAS NOT AUTHORIZED EITHER STAFF OR ITS ATTORNEYS TO MEET WITH THE SENATOR TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER DUE TO THE LACK OF SPECIFIC INFORMATION AND THIS PARTICULAR ITEM WILL BE POSTPONED ONE (1) WEEK TO GIVE THE SENATOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO COME TO NEXT WEEK’S MEETING TO MEET WITH THE BODY AS A WHOLE TO DISCUSS HIS SPECIFIC NEEDS OR TO ALLOW HIM THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONFER WITH COUNCIL MEMBERS INDIVIDUALLY BETWEEN NOW AND NEXT WEEK SO THAT COUNCIL HAS THE INFORMATION THAT COUNCIL NEEDS TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION. IN ADDITION, THE LETTER WILL ALSO INVITE THE SENATOR TO LEND HIS PROFESSIONAL LEGAL EXPERTISE AS A MEMBER OF THE TEAM IF HE SO CHOOSES OR TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY SPECIFIC LEGAL EXPERTS THAT HE WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE CITY EXPLORE TO ROUND OUT THE CITY’S REPERTOIRE OF ADVISORS.
