Judge Rick Olivo

Rick Olivo was elected as Judge of Municipal Court #4 on May 9, 2009, after having been appointed to the same position on September 9, 2008, by the El Paso City Council to fill an unexpired term. He previously served the City of El Paso as an Associate Municipal Judge from August 2001 until his appointment.
Judge Olivo was born in El Paso, Texas, and has lived in the Philippines, Spain, Egypt, Belgium and numerous cities in the United States. He graduated from Cairo American College in Cairo, Egypt in 1984, earned his BA in political science from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1988, and JD from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1997, where he served as the Student Bar Association president. Upon graduation from law school, Judge Olivo worked as an associate on the Business and Technology Team at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, LLP in San Diego, California. He has operated a solo practice in El Paso, Texas, from 1999 until the present.
Judge Olivo is very active in the community by serving on numerous boards and organizations and is the recipient of numerous local awards. These memberships, activities and honors include:
- Admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas and the Western and Northern Districts of Texas.
- Member – Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, 2001-present.

- Member – Board of Directors and Officer of MobilSev Technologies, Inc., a Nevada corporation based in San Diego, California, f/k/a Dial4snax, Inc., 2000-present.

- Member – Polo with a Purpose Committee for the El Paso Cancer Society, 2006-2007.
- Member – Board of Directors of El Paso Hills Community Association, Inc., a Texas non-profit corporation based in Horizon City, Texas, 2001-2002.
- Member – Board of Directors and Officer of Just Hockey, Inc., a Texas corporation based in El Paso, Texas, providing consulting services to the County of El Paso for its youth hockey program, 2001 – 2003.

Judge Olivo is married to Sharon and they have two children: Christian, a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, and Tiana, a junior at Franklin High School.
