  ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Duties:  The ASAC shall perform those duties specified in Chapter 823, Texas Health and Safety Code, and applicable state regulations, as from time to time may be amended. In performing the statutory duties, the ASAC shall provide guidance and advice to all of the animal shelters located within the City of El Paso, and when authorized by an Interlocal Agreement, the County of El Paso or other municipalities located within the County of El Paso, regarding compliance by the shelters with the requirements of Chapter 823, Texas Health and Safety Code and applicable state regulations;shall annually prepare and provide written report to the City Council that provides information regarding the performance of the statutorily required duties by the ASAC.
Qualifications:  Shall meet the qualifications required by Section 823.005(b) Texas Health & Safety Code. Beginning March 27, 2012, ASAC shall consist of 11 regular members. Of these 11 members, at least (1) shall be licensed veterinarian,(1)County or City official,(1) person whose duties include daily operation of an animal shelter, and (1) a representative from animal welfare organization.
Seats:  Beginning March 27, 2012, ASAC shall consist of 11 regular members. Mayor shall nominate 3 members and each City Council representative shall nominate 1 member to ASAC. See Ordinances: 017039, 017507, and 017746.
Term:  4 yrs - Term shall commence upon the execution of present ordinance and shall expired on 4th Monday in June of year indicated on chart. Thereafter, term of office shall commence on 4th Tuesday in June.
Term Limits: Shall be subject to the term limitation provisions contained in Section 2.04.050 of the El Paso City Code.

Meeting times:  Dates to be determined (these are the only meetings this committee will have, to fulfill the legal requirement). All meetings start at 6:00 p.m. and end by 7:30 p.m. and held in the Animal Services Conference Room, 5001 Fred Wilson.
