  COMMITTEE ON BORDER RELATIONS

COMMITTEE IS DORMANT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Duties:  The Committee, in consultation with appropriate City departments and with interested organizations and individuals in El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, shall consider issues and projects affecting the development or relations between the two communities, and the border and in proximity to El Paso, and shall make recommendations to the City Council on programs or projects to enhance and benefit the relations between the two communities. further, the Board shall make such other reports and recommendations to the City Council in connection with the program as Council may require.
Qualifications:  The Committee shall consist of citizens of El Paso who shall be appointed in the manner provided for herein and in the Charter as it relates to appointments to boards and commissions. The Council shall ensure that these nine regular members represent a broad section of the community including members of business, educational, cultural and civic organizations.
Seats:  9 regular members (1 per District, 1 by Mayor). Members nominated by the Mayor and Districts 2,3,6 and 7 shall begin and end in odd numbered years; nominated by Districts 1,4,5 and 8 shall begin and end in even numbered years.
Term:  2 years. Terms shall commence on March 1st and terminate on the last day of February in every calendar year. (Ordinances 008262, 017208 and Resolution 05/12/1992.)
Term Limits: Two term limit.
