MR. METZ WILL GUIDE THE FIRST MEXICAN REVOLUTION HISTORICAL TOUR


Leon Metz was born November 6th, 1930, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1948 and joined the US Airforce and served for 4 years. Leon was primarily stationed at Biggs Field, El Paso where he was a propeller mechanic with the rank of staff sergeant. Thus began his love affair with Southwestern History.

Following his discharge, he worked as a food stocker for Safeway, an El Paso Police Officer, a Milkman for Prices Dairy. A refinery operator for Standard Oil Refiners, a Public Affairs Officer for a bank, an Archivist at UTEP, an assistant to the UTEP president Dr. Haskell Monroe, Leon retired from UTEP.

Leon is married to Cherly Schilling, a speech therapist and part owner of Speech Therapy Group in El Paso. She primarily treats children with Autism. They have four children.

Leon has written 17 books, and perhaps a couple of dozen articles, all non fiction, all relating to the El Paso Southwest area… plus a weekly column in the El Paso Times. Leon is the host of the popular Leon Metz Show on KTSM, a live 2 hour weekly talk show relating to Southwestern history. He is seen often on A&E and the History Channel and BBC's specials on the west.

Leon is a popular speaker for groups and conventions. He prefers to speak his favorite topic, historic El Paso, Gunfighters John Wesley Hardin, Billy "The Kid", Shady Ladies, etc.
