The El
Paso Lyceum is the initiative meant to capitalize on the efforts set-forth by
the 2005 Regional Economic Summit. The effort again brings together the best
of this regional community in public and private sectors to work towards bringing
out the best this area has to offer to its current and future citizens.
The
six Cabinets that comprise the El Paso Lyceum have already begun to meet and
I believe that the members of these cabinets can help bring great changes. I
ask you as a community, not just a city, to keep yourself informed of the efforts
being made on your behalf. I have created this website as a way to communicate
with you the ideas and actions taking place so be sure to check back here regularly
to keep yourself involved.
Each
of the six Cabinets has a set of expectations that I have set forth for them
to review and if possible, work towards implementing. Some expectations come
from the summit and the feedback we received on what the community would like
to see and hear, other expectations come from members of the sub-committees
that worked on the Summit. But each of these expectations is meant to move El
Paso, and the region, in a new direction towards something bigger and better
than we have ever seen before.
Never forget
that it is only together that we can bring about the change we wish to see in
our region. And never forget, the stars are in alignment-it's our time to shine.
Sincerely,
John F. Cook
