Groundbreaking Ceremony |
| The Ground Breaking
Ceremony for the NEW Lower Valley library was held on September 23,
2004 at 11:30 am. The El Paso Public Library would like to
thank The Riverside High School Color Guard and Choir, Bel Air High
School Pipe Band, Perspectiva Architects, Banes General Contractors,
Inc., The City of El Paso Engineering Department, and The City of El
Paso Municipal Services for making this event a big success. |

Construction workers are currently working on the footings,
which
will support the foundation slab.

"Perform
Wall" blocks, which will form the external walls of the building.
These are a combination of concrete and styrofoam and will provide
excellent insulation for our new building. |

This is part of
the "Perform" wall system. These blocks are a mixture of concrete
and styrofoam, which will provide a lot of insulation and hopefully
lower utility bills for the new Lower Valley library building. They
stack the blocks together with rebar to stabilize them, then pour
concrete in the empty holes. This is the
first time this type of wall has been used in a City building
project.
