Women and the Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution, which brought huge
social changes for Mexico, thrust women into
roles not previously expected of them or
even sanctioned in the country dominated by
Porfirio Diaz. Three figures serve as
framework for considering the innovative
realms of authority of our foremothers: the
moral (Teresita Urrea), the intellectual (Jovita
Idar), and the pragmatic (La Adelita-Las
Soldaderas).
