Three Public Library Branches Will Reduce
Weekly Service Hours |
The
Dorris Van Doren Regional Branch Library,
located at 551 Redd Road, and the
Esperanza Acosta
Moreno Regional Branch Library,
located at 12480 Pebble Hills, will both
reduce their weekly public service hours by
closing on Sundays beginning May 31, 2009.
The Main (Downtown) Library will remain open
on Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 pm to
serve the public with no reduction in hours.
The
Richard Burges Regional Branch Library
at 9600 Dyer, will reduce Monday hours by
closing one hour earlier. It currently opens
from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Mondays, but on
June 1, 2009 and all subsequent Mondays, it
will open at 11:00 am and close at 7:00 pm.
The only other Library facility open on
Mondays is the Main Library which opens from
9:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Main Library will
not reduce hours on Mondays.
The reduction in hours is necessary, due to
revenue shortfalls being experienced by the
City during the current fiscal year. Anyone
needing Library services on Sundays will
still have the option of going to the
centrally located Main Library in downtown
El Paso. Parking is free on Sundays.
