I Sailed Something
Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue,
But I sailed something harder to do.
I sailed past first grade, second grade and more,
I’ve learned how to read, write, and get a good score.
I’ve learned to swim and horseback ride,
At first it wasn’t a breeze
And now I do it with ease.
What helps me with things that are tough,
Is that I don’t quit on stuff.
That’s how I sail on to new worlds.

New Worlds
New worlds are wonderful things,
New places, new shops, new diamonds, new rings,
New planets, new ships, new equipment of all kinds.
New caves, new streams, and new gold mines.
New walkways, roads, rivers and streams,
The bad thing about new worlds
Is that most of them are dreams.

Time and Space
I stand quite still
And still time follows
I travel there
And still time follows
I return here
To stand quite still
Yet time won’t follow

Blue As The Seas
As blue as the seas,
The waves crash against the shore.
The waves are wild and fierce.
A small turtle walks across the empty, sandy beach.
The sea is a dark navy-blue.
The ocean is like a lion wanting to be let out of a cage.
As blue as the seas,
As blue as the sky,
The ocean will always be wild.

Ode to Perlman
What I like to do is play the violin,
My friends say, “Why? You’re no Yehudi Menuhin.”
I have to admit that this is true,
But something happened when I was two.
I was sitting as usual watching Sesame Street,
And someone came on who was incredibly neat.
The guest was Itzhak Perlman,
And that’s when I first began;
To love the sound of the violin,
It isn’t necessary to be Menuhin.
As a violinist I may never be employed,
But I’ll still be overjoyed
To make an effort almost superhuman,
To be a little bit like Itzhak Perlman.

Jasmine
Jasmine was my favorite cousin
As could be,
She filled
My heart all over inside,
I think
None of my cousins will
Ever replace her.

Yo Soy Un Marinero
Yo soy marinero
y en mi barco navego
y soy jefe de un coro
por que yo tengo mucho oro.
Ese oro son mis libros
que yo admiro con decoro
pues me abre a nuevos mundos
