The Sky
I lay here on the grass
Looking up far away
And I see a great display
A car to my left,
A flower to my right
And if I turn my head,
I see a bowl of rice.
This thing is so magical
I cannot explain it
There are millions of shapes
Up, up and away.

Mr. Here is Now Mr.
There
Mr. Here is everywhere.
Mr. Here is here and there.
Mr. Here is under your bed.
Mr. Here pops out of your dirty closet.
Mr. Here doesn’t like being everywhere,
That’s why he changed his name to Mr. There.

A Storm
The sky is dark.
The clouds are gray.
The moon is full
The thunder is pounding.
The bright flashes of lightning are striking trees.
The wind is blowing fiercely.
The rain is pounding hard.
Hail is crashing on cars and windows –
leaving them battered and shattered to pieces.
Frightened children are quivering with fear,
Desperately hoping the morning light of the sun
will make it all disappear.

Just
Like Me
I looked in the mirror;
And whom did I see?
I saw someone that looked
Just like me!
I smiled in the mirror,
And whom did I see?
I saw someone smiling back
Just like me!
I like what I see
Because it looks just like me!

You’ll See
There is a girl
Who is nothing but shameful
Not fair, not nice
She runs around with anger
Longing to set it free
How did it all happen?
You’ll see…
She is cruel to those who
Have done nothing wrong
She is mean but in all
She wants to be strong
She hides in her shell
Hoping nobody knows
Her game of hurting others
And their shame that unfolds
When the sun goes down
She makes herself think
She so cool and unmoved
But in a moment’s blink
She knows it hurts
She just lets it be!
Now can you see?
There is a girl
Who just wants attention
She wants to be liked
Yet she knows the expectation
And until then
Maybe people will see
The inside of her
If only she’d let them
You’ll see…Jesus

Shoes
They are black and blue, silver and pink
All colors to choose from
They all make me blink
From flip-flops to heels from flats to boots
To put on at home or out in the woods
Some make you tall, some make you short
There are even some for sports
Some are for dancing
Some for relaxing
There are those that are fluffy
I confuse them with my dog Buffy
Shoes can match your clothes
And you can go to Lenny’s
Just put on those tennis
Shoes, so many pairs
You can wear them anywhere!

The Queen of Ice
I know this girl who thinks she’s really nice
But I think her heart is made of ice
She’s evil, now that’s a fact
But nobody ever catches her in the act
She lies about me all the time
And she’s as sour as a fresh lime
She’s conceited and competitive
My connotation around her is negative
Now I can’t say her name
But really, this isn’t a game
She’s the Queen of Ice
And she’s really not very nice
She’s coming for me, so please
Help Me!!

Dreams of Hope
Dreams of hope,
Dreams for hope,
I hope that they come true…
Saving the world from poverty,
Reduce pollution too!
I hope that they come true…
Bring back our troops,
Using our black gold wisely,
I hope that they come true…
Violence and demise to prevent,
Law and order to expand!
I hope that they come true…
Dreams of hope,
Dreams for hope,
I hope that they come true…

Dogs
Dogs are faithful, dogs are glad,
Dogs don’t want to see you sad.
Dogs will try to cheer you up,
Especially a little pup.
Dogs are humble, dogs are quick,
Sometimes they will pick up sticks.
Dogs are nice, dogs are fun,
But they will eat your hot dog bun.
Dogs think everything is yummy,
But they just want to fill their tummy.
Dogs are loving, dogs are kind,
If you lose a tooth, they don’t mind.
Dogs are smart, dogs are crazy,
Let them lay there and be lazy.
Dogs are companions, dogs are curious,
They don’t try to make you furious.

Sister
Sister, sister
Don’t leave now
Remember all those
Summer days splashing
in the pool
Sister, sister
Don’t leave now
Don’t you remember
Waking up on Christmas morning
With joy and excitement.
Sister, sister
Don’t leave now
Can’t you remember those Easter
Sundays searching for eggs.
Sister, sister
Don’t forget me
As you walk out that door headed for college
I’ll only remember to say “I love you”

Look up in the sky
Passing by
a beautiful butterfly
Butterflies, butterflies flying in the air
Flash and dash here, now there
Butterflies, butterflies creatures so sweet
They flutter on your nose
They tickle your feet.
Butterflies, butterflies can’t see them in the night,
That’s what makes sleeping so nice, is waking up
To midmorning light and going out
Into the heartwarming
Swarming
Of oh so sweet butterflies.

Life
We live and we die,
That is the way of life,
It can be cruel,
Or it can be cool,
Eventful or plain,
Sad or with pain,
You can make it boring,
Or it can stop going,
You can hate it,
Or love it,
But remember,
It can be treasure,
It’s yours,
You own it,
But don’t let people control it,
That is LIFE!!!

Lion’s Lament
I’m a Lion trapped in a zoo,
Sitting on a rock
With nothing to do
I want FREEDOM to be the king of the beasts
Back in my jungle
With my choice of feasts
