Coffee
Ebony pools, rich and dark.
Your tangible warmth breaks through
clouds like a breath on a cold winter day
Circling above your mouth.
You, giver of clear-headedness.
Chasing away morpheus and his powerful touch.
You give life to our minds,
But as you give, you take away our power.
Addictive like a lover's kiss
Together we melt into one person,
I the dependent, you the powerful
You tempt us, and we search you out with yearning lips.
Daily I need you; without you I cannot survive.
You, the one thing I cannot turn away.

They are hunters that society has created,
They are men and women.
Some are good but most are evil.
Some hunt for revenge
And others hunt for survival.
They hunger to see their victims' blood;
With their hands like leather,
Not feeling the pain
That is inflicted on their sacrifice,
Their devious schemes for destruction
Are at times planned
but sometimes are on impulse.
And no one will ever know the cause of their rage.

I Wonder
I wonder what it feels like to have a father.
I have heard and read about fathers.
Because of that, I know fathers are cool.
They are always there when you need them, and
your heart gets full of love when you see them.
I said, I wonder what it feels like to have a father
Because I never had one, at least , not my real father.
I wonder if God will ever give me the opportunity to live with
my father again.
All I want is for my heart to get full of love when
I see him...my father.

Me
If I were a bird,
I'd fly to the sun.
If I were a grasshopper,
I'd hop 'til I'm done.
But since I'm not a bee,
or a bird that can flap free,
I'll just have to be...

The Star
The star
is so bright
and so far
the brightness is like a light
I wonder why stars are far
Is that because we all fight?
I just wish the stars were not so far
well until then I will use my flashlight.

Bats
A book about bats?
Come on, get real!
They're awful, disgusting,
They have no appeal.
Teachers prefer cute,
Teachers like cuddly,
No one likes bats,
They're just too ugly.
They suck your blood,
They get caught in your hair.
They fly through the night,
Just to give you a scare.
Not true you say?
They're gentle and shy?
Do a little research?
I'll give it a try.
Where are bats found?
They are found everywhere, |
except Antarctica
It's too cold there.
Bats look like rodents
They fly like a bird.
Bu they're really a mammal,
it all seems absurd.
Microbats and Megabats
are names you should know.
They're two groups of bats,
identified below.
Microbats are small,
have small eyes, big ears.
They use echolocation
to catch insects far and near.
Some Microbats can catch
three thousand bugs a night.
A lot fewer mosquitoes,
Is quite a delight. |
Megabats
are bigger
and they see very well.
They like to eat fruit
they find with sight and smell.
They scatter the seeds
and pollinate the trees,
a must for tropical forests,
we all would agree.
The real value of bats,
is not understood.
They're really our friends
they do a lot of good.
Bats aren't awful.
Bats aren't disgusting.
There's a lot to learn
it takes some adjusting.

Dreamer
I dream day and night
about the moon
hidden behind the dark clouds
I dream about lands
real and imaginary
near and far
Dreams, an allusion to life
So dear to me
I hold them
like an orphan clings onto memories
of his mother
Dreams become clear
in the midst of hope
Let them pierce your heart
and embrace your soul
Dream like I do
About the moon
during and eclipse

Grandma
It's time to say goodbye
Dear Grandma
I wish you had never left me
I am sitting on your grave right now.
Why so soon Grandma?
You love purple flowers
here are some. Grandma,
is it time to go up to
Heaven now?
My heart is pounding fast and hard.
Grandma, I love you so
and Goodbye.

School Is Out
The garden's full,
with flowers all about
out come weeds that need a pull.
A nice hot day
Birds in their nests
Near the end of May
It's time to rest.
Birds are going to sing
out on the bay
Such a lovely thing
On a wonderful day.

The Best Part of Going
Away, Is Going Away From You
If I could borrow a rocket ship,
I'd pack a bag then take a trip
To the other side of twice as far
From nowhere near wherever you are.
And if there wasn't time to pack,
I'd just blast off, and never come Back

The Stars
The stars are beautiful
I want to catch stars.
I want to sleep with stars.
I want to go play with stars.
I want to fly with stars.
Lots of people said stars are yellow.
But I think stars are gold or silver.
If stars are not here
The night is very dark
So I like stars.
Stars are beautiful and cool.

Echoes
Among the trees and broken dreams,
A flower blooms, a child screams.
For long ago to present time,
The choice is yours, the choice is mine.
Intriguing mystery, passionate love,
A toddler's first step, a cloud from above.
From the dust remains the same.
A sound of terror, a sound of fear,
People screaming is all I hear.
From the dark of night and light of day,
All I ask is that you hear what I say.
Walking through a cloud of words,
Your footsteps echoing was all I heard.
A window opens when a door is closed,
An old man dies, a baby grows.
A day beginning is what I see,
A tremendous journey to travel with me.
Among the trees and broken dreams,
A flower blooms, a child screams.

The Still Mountain
A crisp cold river running along the side of
a forest of evergreens.
Along the snow capped mountains that meets
the cloudless blue sky.
Only the mist from the crisp snow flutters around.
Not a soul in sight.
The branches slowly quiver
from the cold breeze.

My Little Angel
I have a little angel that protects me day and night.
His name is Ismael.
He had a great big smile each and every day.
I met him when he was born, then he flew away.
But he still lives inside me each and every night.
You could see him in a big shinning star,
Up above in the great, dark sky.
But each and every night I pray
and ask for his guidance and protection.

Friend
Today I lost a friend because of something
that I said. I didn't mean to say it but
it just came out instead.
It was during school, and I felt like going
to bed, but when my friend told her, I thought
that I was dead.
She said she wouldn't talk, I said I didn't care.
But later in the afternoon I wouldn't dare to look or stare.
I know I did wrong, and the day seemed so long.
I hope she forgives, I just want to belong.
