El Pájaro
Pájaro si pudieras bajar,
Si tuvieras alas para volar,
Vendrías para jugar,
Y para darte de desayunar.
Pajarito si pudieras bajar del arbolito,
Te daría de comer en tu piquito,
Pero te daré de comer muy poquito,
Por que te enfermas del estomaguito.

As they are growing, they are learning more.
Running all over the house
and taking the toys out of the box.
Reading to him is fun.
On the side of him, I put a mirror
for him to look at himself.
Taking in all the things
that other people say.

Who is there to share your thoughts
and keep a secret? A friend.
A friend is always there to brighten up your day

A friend is someone you remember in your prayers
each and every night.

Puppy Love
When I was a puppy
I had a family,
with milk to drink
with food to eat,
I was kissed and hugged
I loved my master very much,
I slept by his bed
nice and cozy.
I was played with
I was cared for,
I was even loved
I always felt special.
On rainy and thunderest days
I’d whimper and cry of fright,
‘Til my master put me in his arms
I was safe for now.
‘Til the day my master died
A man shot him from behind,
He laid there on the doorstep
I whimpered and howled by his body,
|
I remembered when
I first saw him
I had loved him,
I was sad and unhappy
I was even scared.
Now it’s my turn
To say goodbye,
I’m not scared a bit
To know I will be with my master again.
As I lay in a white room
I hear the other dogs,
Say, “Fear not, it will be over soon.”
I see a man in a white jacket.
He puts my head down
As he holds my neck,
I do not struggle at all
I feel a pain in my neck.
As my breath shortens
I now know how my master felt.
When I see my master,
The first thing I’ll say is,
“I LOVE YOU MASTER.”

Why They Do What They Do
Have you ever seen someone who stands out in the crowd?
the one in the frilly dress,
Hair to the knees,
Or with the shaved head?
Maybe it is the one with award after award,
Or the ones who are always talking to themselves,
Have you ever thought of the person inside?
You might have thought they were mental,
Or always had their heads in the books.
Have you ever thought about
Why they do what they do?

Y quiero que sepas que te quiero con mucho cariño
Yo te amo tanto y te voy a querer

Esto es lo que siento
Por tí te quiero mi amor

I see clouds full of anger
Releasing flame from their wings
Trying to reach the happiness of a new life
I hear the sky crying out loud
Whispering to nature sweet phrases
Laughing with birds
I smell the dust
That surrounds us day and night
Finding its way through woods
And frighten nights
I reach out but touch only empty air
Feeling the coldness of a lonely day
I am all that nature could represent
Life and death
That one day has to end.

I am an eagle who longs to be free.
I am not a beaner, tortilla, or atole.
I’m something fine like tamales or mole.

I am not Kool-Aid, Sprite or cola.

The Ocean
The ocean is a beautiful place,
with bright blue water
and shells that shine,
and the sand that covers them...
If you were to go on a sailing boat,
the water would sprinkle your face.
If you take a swim,
the water wraps itself around you.
If you go to the sea,
beauty is there.

Why Did You Have to Die?
Last night
I had a dream.
It was a terrible dream.
We were hiking
in the Franklins
and you fell.
I tried to save you
but it was no use.
I woke up with a start
and ran to the window
searching for you
but you didn’t come.
I stood there
for hours
hoping against hope.
But you still didn’t come.
Then it happened...
She walked in,
uninvited,
with tears
in her eyes.
And I knew,
You would never come.
Without you here
life seems so dull.
The mountains
are no longer beautiful,
and the snow makes me sick.
The whole world
seems cold and distant.
Out of reach.
I feel like winter
has wrapped
her icy fingers
permanently
around my heart.
Why did you have to die?

The Black Box
The black box is hidden under the bed.
All the darkness and pain locked up in there
Away from the memories in my head.
I cannot move on, it just isn’t fair.
I’m still missing you all night and day.
All the love I feel inside of my heart,
With nowhere to go and nothing to say.
Now I’m so unsure about where I should start.
Holding me so tightly, I can’t let go.
I felt all the real love we once did share.
You have said good-bye and I feel so low.
Because I can’t forget you, I still care.
The lonely one is what they see as me.
My little black box is what you can’t see.

If You Try
The earth is precious
and is vital to all living things.
We don’t want to ruin this great earth
or it would be a dilemma for all human beings.
The unique animals we love
we are not taking care of.
The animals we are killing for their coats
are getting fewer by the day;
If we don’t stop this needless sport
they might all go away.
We are polluting our oceans, lakes,
rivers, and streams
We need to take it seriously
The earth needs to be clean.
Our fish are dying by gas and oil spills,
Our earth is precious, need to
stop treating it like a frill
The Indians took care of the earth
like we should
The Indians made tepees and
hunted in the woods.
But if we considered to clean
the place we live in,
later we might be proud of
the places we have been.
What could happen if you try?

Halloween Poem
People in costumes running around,
Ghosts, witches, and goblins abound.
Jack-o-lanterns are blinking at me,
On Halloween that’s what I see.
Creamy caramel candy crunching on my teeth,
Some Snickers, Milky Ways, and even some Heath.
Hot apple cider splashing down my throat,
Tastes sweet and warms you like a coat.
The smell of fall is in the air,
Candles in pumpkins burning everywhere.
The smoke is a blindfold that smells of a fire
If you said it smelled good, I’d call you a liar.
Yelling, screaming, and booing galore,
Doorbells announcing trick-or-treaters at the door.
Candy wrappers opening snap, crackle, pop,
People yelling for kids to stop.
After trick-or-treating my feet are killing me,
I wish I could hang like a bat from a tree.
Finishing this candy may take until pigs can fly,
I think, though, I’ll still give it a try.

Here
Here we stand,
Dancing onward,
Shedding the past,
One second at a time.
Strands of time we cling to,
Unwilling to let go,
Of our only certainty;
And what is now
But what we are?
Now flows into the past
As tomorrow becomes today;
From memories towards dreams, everlasting!
A personal eternity speeds past,
And what is the Future
But tomorrow’s memories?
So why not rejoice
As we flow into such a certain depth
As our future?
