The goal of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is to identify and serve qualified residents of El Paso and Hudspeth counties during critical stages of growth and development. WIC assists families with nutrition related needs in an effort to prevent more serious medical problems.
Who can Participate?
Women who are pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding, parents, step-parents, guardians, and foster parents of infants and children under five can apply for their children. If you have a job or if you have private health insurance, you can still apply for WIC. You do not have to be married to apply for WIC.
Are services free?
Yes! All WIC services are free to those who are eligible.
What are the requirements?
Categorically eligible (Pregnant, Postpartum, Breastfeeding, Infant or Child less than 5 years of age); residing in El Paso or Hudspeth counties; meeting an income guideline; having an established nutritional need determined at time of appointment.

What are the WIC Benefits?
Participants in the WIC Program receive nutrition education, breastfeeding information, medical/nutritional screening, medical/immunization/social referrals, and supplemental foods. Women and Children receive milk, cheese, cereal, juice, eggs, and beans or peanut butter. For infants, if mom is breastfeeding, WIC will provide information and support through the Peer Counseling program. If mom chooses not to breastfeed, infant formula is provided.
