Fire Code Enforcement

FIRE

The El Paso Fire Department Code Compliance Section strives on the goal of minimizing the risk of life and property loss from fire.  By enforcing an adopted fire code and related standards, hazardous conditions can be eliminated or controlled before fire occurs.

Local Codes

All buildings in the City of El Paso must comply with the adopted "International Fire Code, 2000".   The El Paso Fire Department also enforces local amended codes and municipal codes.  In addition to general inspections, there are numerous specific areas where inspections are also required.

These include:

Building Final Inspections

Request for building finals shall be made through this office at least one (1) business day in advance.  The assigned inspector will conduct this inspection the next working day between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.  Stamped plans and permit cards are required to be on the inspection site.  Approval of work done will be noted on the back of the permit card.

Deficiencies found during the inspection will result in disapproval and a red tag shall be issued.  The contractor shall submit for re-inspection after all deficiencies have been corrected and the red tag fee is paid.
