ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

 

El Paso residents may request a fee-based, special pick-up by calling the department.  The Special Collections division is utilized to clean lots, alleys, illegal dump sites, parkways, dead animal removal, and pick-up of large items (bulky waste).

GUIDELINES

What we will pick up:

  • Appliances (must be empty)
  • Barbeques (Fuel and Charcoal removed)
  • Brush, tree trunks, branches and other green waste
  • Carpet
  • Doors
  • Furniture (must be empty)
  • Lawn mowers (Fuel and motor oil removed)
  • Lumber
  • Mattresses & box springs
  • Pallets
  • Refrigerators & Freezers (must be clean, empty and free of odors; doors removed; refrigerant removed)

What we will not pick up:

  • Anything with a title of ownership (automobile chassis, motorcycles, trailers, boats, etc…)
  • Commercial/Industrial generated material
  • Compressed gas/air cylinder(s)
  • Recyclable material
  • Dirt/Rocks/Concrete
  • Tires
  • Hazardous materials
Collection Process:
  • Call Department to schedule a pick-up and obtain a cost estimate – 621-6700.
  • Place bulky items at the curb in front of your home by 7 a.m. on the day your pick-up is scheduled
  • Please keep items five feet away from your garbage and recycling containers, mailbox, fence, wall, water meter, telephone junction box, parked cars, or low-hanging trees

SELF-HAUL OPTIONS

  • You may also haul most bulky items to the Clint landfill.  A charge for tipping at the landfill does apply for all users of the landfill. 
  • Citizen Collection Stations are located throughout the city where you may drop-off additional waste or bulky items free of charge provided you show proof that you pay monthly City of El Paso, Environmental Service fees and a matching I.D.

*One CY is an item that measures 3ft long x 3ft wide x 3ft high

Bulky Collections are performed Monday through Friday 8am to 3pm

DEAD ANIMAL REMOVAL

The City has a service for picking up dead animals throughout the City limits of El Paso. Disposal of pet animals is available for a nominal fee.  The cost will be added to the El Paso Water Utilities bill. The pet must be bagged and placed on the edge of the curb. Residents that require this service are asked to call the Main Office, 621-6700, to make arrangements.

Dead animals found on the roadside must be reported during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  During weekends or after hours, please call the El Paso Police Department at 832-4400.

Dead animals are removed from City public thoroughfares without charge.

Dead animals that are removed from private property will be charged according to the fee schedule below:

DEAD ANIMALS:
SMALL ANIMAL
(less than 32 lbs)

6 A.M. TO 2 P.M. $10
MEDIUM ANIMAL
(greater than 32 lbs but less than 100 lbs)

  $30
LARGE ANIMAL
(greater than 100 lbs)

  $100

*Surcharges exist for any decomposed animal, after hour pick-up, or animals not placed in a bag.

INTERDEPARTMENTAL (INKIND) SERVICE

Environmental Services has contracted with two local companies to collect waste and recycling from City buildings and facilities.  Heist Disposal was selected to service City dumpsters used for garbage.  Freidman Recycling, Inc. was selected to service City dumpsters with recyclable materials.  If you have problems with your service call our office at 621-6700 or contact Mr. Manny Grado, GradoMX@elpasotexas.gov
