MONTHLY SAFETY TIP

Monthly Safety Tip:  Fire Alarms

When the fire alarm sounds, your immediate response should be to evacuate.  Calls for information only serve to slow down the evacuation.  There are no false alarms; the alarm sounds for a reason -- it has been tripped.  After everyone is out safely and accounted for, an investigation will determine the cause. When you hear the fire alarm:
  • Evacuate to your assembly area
  • Close, but do not lock, doors behind you
  • Notify others to evacuate
  • Assist those requiring assistance
  • Notify Safety Coordinator or alternate of department of members not present
  • Move as a group to a safe area as designated by First Responders
  • Remain outside the building until notified to re-enter
Only first responders will make decisions on re-entry after they have the situation under control.  You will be notified by First Responders and Building Security when you can re-enter.
