Roots and Shoots Volunteers to host special Easter Day activities at the Zoo
The Zoo Education Office is planning activities and demonstrations for a special Easter Day at the Zoo on Sunday, April 16. The El Paso Zoological Society's Roots and Shoots youth volunteers will offer Pictures with the Easter bunny from 11:00 - 4:00. Pictures are $3 and proceeds benefit El Paso Zoological Society programs at the Zoo.
In addition to Sea lion programs at 10:45am and 2:45pm, a elephant program at noon and the Safari Rama Family Game Show at 1:30pm, from 11:00-4:00pm Roots and Shoots volunteers will offer a special Scavenger Hunt. Children will pick up Scavenger Hunt sheets at the Roots and Shoots table and then try to find the answers to various questions about Zoo animals. The answers will be found around the Zoo and at the Roots and Shoots bio-fact tables. Children that return to the Roots and Shoots table with the answers win a prize (while supplies last).
The mission of Roots and Shoots is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for the environment, animals, and the community. The El Paso Zoo Roots and Shoots volunteers develop and implement projects based on care and concern for animals, the environment, and the human community. Members will become active in leadership, organization and education as well as many fun and challenging activities.
