Three independent school districts serve the City of El Paso each with its own rich history and record of achievement.
El Paso Independent School District
Located in El Paso, Texas, the El Paso Independent School District is the largest district in the Texas Education Agency's Educational Service Center - Region 19. With more than 45,000 students in 92 campuses, EPISD also is the seventh largest district in Texas and the 57th largest district in the United States. It also is El Paso's largest employer with nearly 9,000 employees and has an annual operating budget of $446 million. Organized in 1883, EPISD is not only a large district, but also one rich in history.
Ysleta Independent School District
The Ysleta Independent School District has grown into one of the major school districts in the state with nearly 50,000 students and 6000 administrators, teachers and staff. The district has 58 campuses, which sprawl through an urban area stretching from northeast El Paso to the East and Southeast areas of the city.
Socorro Independent School District
Socorro Independent School District is located in the southeastern portion of El Paso County, Texas. It serves Socorro, Horizon City, and the eastern portion of the City of El Paso. The District covers 136 square miles of El Paso County. Socorro I.S.D. is one of the fastest growing school Districts in the state of Texas. The Student Activities Complex includes a 13,000-seat stadium, and the adjacent Aquatic Center, also open throughout the year, has indoor and outdoor pools.
Higher Education
Institutions of higher learning are integrated with the community, offering numerous academic programs and research centers. Many of these research programs are in conjunction with institutions in Cd. Juarez focusing on issues specific to the border region.
UTEP
As the second oldest academic institution in the University of Texas system, the University of Teas at El Paso (UTEP) was founded in 1913. The university's academic structure consists of six colleges and eight doctoral programs. The 366 acre campus enrolls an average of 19,000 students per academic year.

NMSU
New Mexico State University, situated on a spacious campus on the edge of the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, occupies a unique place among American colleges and universities. It is the only land-grant university that is both a major research institution and a minority serving institution.

EPCC
El Paso Community College was established in 1969 enrolling 901 students in September of that year. Today, El Paso Community College offers over xxx programs of study to earn an associates degree or certificate of completion. As one of the largest comprehensive community colleges in the nation, EPCC serves 200,000 credit and 8,000 non-credit students each semester through its campuses and over the Internet.
