PLAN REVIEW
Our plan examiners are available
during 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Walk-ins are welcomed. Appointments
are preferred to insure that the plan examiner can spend the
appropriate time with you reviewing your project or plan check.
Prerequisites
for plan submittal:
PID – Property
Identification Number, assigned by El Paso Central Appraisal
District, 780-2000, www.elpasocad.org
Communication
facilities and devices require pre-approval from the Information
Technology’s Public
Safety Technology Department, 8600 Montana, El Paso, Texas
The El Paso International
Airport must approve any project located on El Paso International
Airport Property, prior to plan submittal.
An EAB number for
any project valued $50,000.00 or more.
Residential
plans are reviewed by a Plan Reviewer for evaluation
of all building systems and components.
Commercial
plans are reviewed by a staff of specialists, each evaluating
a specific discipline.
The plans will be reviewed to determine compliance
with the building,
plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire codes, as well
as compliance with Planning & Zoning requirements.
Non-complying code-related items discovered during the plan
review process are relayed in electronic format, which is available
at www.elpasotexas.gov for
the applicant to review and re-submit corrections. Completion
of first full review will vary according to the type of project
and the current workload. (Note: Some projects may be eligible
for an over-the-counter permit.)
If desired, Building Permits & Inspection
staff is available to meet and discuss your proposed project
prior to submittal. For large building projects, a preliminary
plan review can be scheduled through the Chief Plans Examiner.
Building Permits & Inspections offers
two Fast Track Plan Review Processes for an additional fee. Customized
Plan Review is available for commercial projects, large
or small. Large Residential or Commercial Tenant Improvements
my utilize Permit By Appointment.
