- We are pleased to announce Juan Estala has accepted the position of Chief Plans Examiner for BPI. Mr. Estala has been with the department for several years as a commercial plans examiner.
- We are pleased to announce Mike Neligh has accepted the position of Senior Plans Examiner for BPI. Mr. Neligh has been with the department for several years as a commercial plans examiner, specializing in Customized Plan Review.

- In 2007, Development Services implemented a telephone inspection request system IVR system to request inspections. One of the many features of this program will allow a customer to request one or more inspections on multiple permits 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please pickup a information sheet when you receive your permit. Call 313-6100 with your permit number and the specific code for the inspection selected.
Business Center Division

Planning Division

- We are pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Etiwe as the Development review Manager of Planning. Mr. Etiwe brings a great deal of experience in the field of planning to the City of El Paso and is very excited to work with the City with the many new urban development projects.

Development Services Department is organized into three divisions Building Permits & Inspections Division, Customer Service & Business Center and Planning Division. The focus of The Development Services Department is designed to ensure orderly and safe development within the city and provide for future growth. The department administers and enforces the City's Zoning Ordinances, Municipal Code, the adopted 2003 International Code Council's Family of Codes and the 2005 National Electric Code.
This Department manages zoning, building permits and inspections, as well as overseeing current and long range planning, new development, and building and housing safety.
