El Paso Museum of History to Host The Da Vinci Experience Exhibition
The El Paso Museum of History will be the only stop in West Texas for The Da Vinci Experience - running through July 10, 2010.  The exhibit, one like no other, is available through the Museum of Leonardo Da Vinci in Florence, Italy.

It consists of more than 60 precise and working machines described and designed by Leonardo Da Vinci along with replicas of his greatest paintings; most notably the Mona Lisa. The exhibit will take over the entire first floor of the Museum. It is displayed in four principle galleries focusing on the topics of transportation, military, mechanical devices, and an art gallery. Museum director Julia Bussinger states, “More than 500 years ago, Leonardo Da Vinci predicted, “There shall be wings for man.” Wings were given to man to follow his quest for knowledge and conquest of unlimited skies. The Da Vinci Experience Exhibit leads us to the realm of adventure, discovery, and personal experience of the amazing Da Vinci inventions. This once-in-a life- time, hands-on, interactive exhibit is a must see for each El Paso household and student.”

To cover the expenses involved with such an acclaimed exhibit, this will be the first time the El Paso Museum of History will charge an admission to the museum. The fee structure is available on the Museum website, www.elpasotexas.gov/history (click on The Da Vinci Experience link at the top of the page), through TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling either the museum at 915-351-3588 or TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000. The exhibit is mostly interactive; children and adults and will have the opportunity to operate machines designed by one of the world’s true Renaissance Men. Numerous education programs and lectures will take place during the six-month stay. Las Palmas Medical Center, the exhibit’s primary underwriter, currently has surgeons using the Da Vinci Robot. The Robot is re-writing accepted standards for surgical care. The Da Vinci Experience is coming to El Paso in cooperation of the El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau. 50,000 visitors are expected to enjoy the exhibition.

While there will be a fee for The Da Vinci Experience, the Museum’s second floor galleries will remain free. Call (915) 351-3588 for additional information.
