City of El Paso Goes Online to Auction Surplus Property
The City of El Paso recently selected GovDeals, an online auction service for City, County and State governments and agencies, to conduct online sales of their surplus vehicles, property and equipment.El Paso joins over 2,800 governments nationwide that have adopted GovDeals’ online auction solution. Since 2005 over $8.5 million dollars worth of surplus equipment and property have been sold online by the 143 Texas governments and agencies that use the GovDeals system.
“By using GovDeals, we have more flexibility when it comes to holding an auction. A lot of people may not have time to search through the local newspaper for the particulars of an auction or may not be able to attend the auction because of scheduling issues. Now, the general public can access El Paso’s auctions with the click of a button,” stated Carmen Arrieta-Candelaria.
Auction participants can view and register to bid on items by visiting the City’s website www.elpasotexas.gov and click on the “Gov Deals” logo or go directly to www.govdeals.com. El Paso’s first auction begins January 7th and will consist of assorted automobiles, including a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria and a 2007 Ford E250.
