Update: No Trucks on Left Lane

In keeping with the continual effort to increase driver safety and mitigate traffic congestion, on August 4, 2009 the City Council approved an ordinance restricting trucks with 3 or more axles from traveling on the left most lane of Interstate Highway 10 (I-10). Please note the Texas Department of Transportation has now finalized the installation of signs along I-10 required for this new restriction.

Highlights

§ Restriction limits extend from North Mesa to Zaragoza, approximately 22 miles

§ Passing is not prohibited

§ 14 signs installed and message boards displayed by TxDOT to notify the traveling public

§ Enforcement activities to be conducted by the Police Department
