    Recreation & Senior Center Activities

    Nolan Richardson Recreation Center - 4435 Maxwell - 755-7566
    The Nolan Richardson Community Center at 4435 Maxwell St. is offering some holiday classes at the center. Registration is ongoing for Indoor soccer for ages 6 and under and 8 and under. The fee is $30 per child and games are played on Saturday mornings with games starting during the holiday season.

    The center is also hosting the Gus and Goldie Mini-Sports Leagues for two separate age divisions of ages 4-5 and 6-7. Games are played on Saturday mornings. For more information call 755-7566.

    The other event held at the center is for Adults. There will be a men's open league starting with a fee of $160 per team. The games are played on Wednesday nights and the first game action will start in January. For more information on any of the three events listed, call Hiram Samaniego at 755-7566.

    Westside Recreation Center - 7400 High Ridge - 587-1623
    Come and sign up for Yoga with Amissa on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The classes are just in time for the New Year and the fitness craze that will go with it. The classes are only $20.00 a month for ages 16 and over.

    The center is also offering Self Defense Classes with Mr. Macias on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. These classes are only $20 per month and are open to ages 8 and over.

    Youth Basketball (co-ed) for ages 8 & 9, 10 & 11 and 12 & 13 is now starting at the Westside Recreation Center. Birth certificates are required for registration and the fee is $40 per player with an additional $2 per player a game for referee fees.     Be Fit in 2008
    Fitness Classes will be on the rampage in the coming weeks and the Parks and Recreation Department will have that special fitness class not only in their Recreation Centers but also in their Aquatic facilities as well. The classes will be starting the first week of January and there is no membership cost with nominal fees and a flexible workout time for you. You can get more specific information about fitness classes at the aquatic facilities by calling 544-3556 or for the recreation centers by calling 541-4331.

    New Year's Eve Celebrations
    The San Juan and Eastside Senior Centers will have New Year's Eve dances on December 31 at their respective locations. The San Juan Center at 700 N. Glenwood will have a dance fee of $30 per person and will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Los Galaxies will be performing. The eastside Senior Center will have the same amount of $30 for the admission fee and time. Both centers are now taking reservations.
