Proposed FEMA FIRM Revisions: Appeal/Protest Period Begins
Effective December 20, 2007, FEMA has instituted the 90-day appeal and protest period for residents and property owners who would like to provide scientific or technical information refuting the proposed changes to the preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).
The FIRMs for El Paso County were released this summer by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designating the proposed areas located within a flood zone. The revisions come as part of FEMA’s effort to modernize the maps at a national level. Please note the revisions are not effective until a formal process is expedited by FEMA.
- The 90-day appeal/protest period will close on March 19, 2008.
- Information may be submitted electronically at FEMAAppealandProtest@elpasotexas.gov
- For more information, the public can call 541-4200.
- Individuals who reside outside city limits must contact their respective Floodplain Administrator (Information for the County: 546-2015).
