El Paso Fire Department and Irvin High School Team-up for Community Initiative
Recently, members of the El Paso Fire Department and the Irvin High School faculty / staff came together for a charity basketball game and canned food drive. The initiative was a joint project that was created by the Irvin High School Community Service class and the El Paso Firefighters as part of the national "Make a Difference Day."
A canned food donation was required for admission to the event. Result: El Paso's Bravest Firefighters "diffused" the Irvin Rockets faculty by a score of 50-39. School organizers called the "Make a Difference Day" Canned Food Drive/Charity Basketball Game a success, with several hundred cans of food being collected for donation to the Salvation Army, Child Crisis Center and other area agencies.
