Eastwood Rec Center to Hold Health Classes for Public
Eastwood Recreation Center will be starting their popular free Health Classes for Adults the first Wednesday of each month. This is a continuing health class that discusses varying degrees of adult health issues every month in collaboration with the City-County Health District. The recreation center is located at 3001 Parkwood. For more information, please call 629-7312.
Register for Water Aerobics
The Parks and Recreation aquatic facilities are currently taking monthly registration for Water Aerobics Classes. A minimum of six participants must register for the class to begin. The class will meet four times a week and the fee is only $25.
Get in Shape at Eastwood Rec
The Eastwood Recreation Center has one of the more state-of-the-art weight training areas among the city recreation facilities. The area has free weights, circuit training and cardio equipment, which includes elliptical machines, treadmills, a stepper and a stationary bike. The weight room may be used for $20 per month, and there is no contract to sign as membership is from month to month. The weight room facilities are open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Monday through Thursdays) and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information contact Sylvia Marquez at 629-7312.
San Juan Recreation Center Offers Different Classes in the Arts
San Juan Recreation Center at 701 N. Glenwood will have several classes starting up this month. Ballet Classes under the direction of Martha Castillo will be on tap for ages 6 and up. The class will involve different ballet techniques with the sessions taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Another class that has been a great favorite of the past is a keyboarding class. Alfonso Sandoval, who has over 25 years of experience in teaching keyboard techniques, will teach the class. Different music genres will be taught, which include, rock, salsa, cumbia, tejano, jazz, blues, reggae and more. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. for one hour each day. For more information on either class, please call 779-2799.
New Activities Being Offered at the Multipurpose Center
The Multi-Purpose Center, with its outreach in the Cielo Vista neighborhood and beyond, is announcing a new slate of classes:

Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Beginners Congas (Drum)
Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Beginners Guitar and Piano
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Fee $15.00/mo each class
Gus & Goldie Youth Indoor Soccer
Games are played Saturday mornings. Open to boys and girls ages 3-5yrs and 6-7 yrs.
Fee: $25.00. Includes a T-shirt and trophy. Season begins Oct 28, 2006.
The center also offers classes in Classical Ballet, Tai Chi, Aerobics, Kickboxing, Weight room, Folklorico and Karate. For more information on these or other classes, please call 598-1155.
