Under Renovation: San Juan Senior Center
San Juan Senior Center is currently being renovated with a planned re-opening in one year. The seniors that participate at the facility are holding their activities next door at the San Juan Recreation Center. The monthly dances and other events will continue throughout the year. Participate in the Annual Holiday Lights Parade!
The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will host the Holiday Lights Parade on December 2nd in downtown El Paso. This year's parade is expecting an anticipated audience of over 55,000 people!
The Holiday Lights Parade is done in conjunction with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in San Jacinto Plaza in downtown El Paso. The event typically begins at 5:00 p.m., with the lighting of the tree and the Lights Parade following. The Parks and Recreation Department is asking anyone interested in participating in the Holiday Lights Parade to please fill out and submit an entry form. The deadline to submit entries is November 10th. If you would like more information on where to get your entry form and where to submit, please call 541-4594.
Last Chance of the Season to Experience the Municipal Rose Garden
The City Parks and Recreation Rose Garden will have its last month of activity before closing until April for the winter months. The Rose Garden hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Rose Garden was recently expanded at a cost of $750,000. The Garden now has a new waterfall, new irrigation and over double the previous space of the facility. The design of the Rose Garden is second to none as it also has a pond with Koi fish, a walking path to view the extensive collection of roses, along with the plaza area. New Horticulture Center to be Developed
An exciting new HORTICULTURE CENTER is being created in the old El Paso Garden Center building in Memorial Park, 3105 Grant. The Texas Collaborative Extension and the El Paso County Master Gardeners will be responsible for the programming in the building, which will include horticultural events.
