2008 Older El Pasoans Hall of Fame Winners
Hosted by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.)
In recognition of senior citizen volunteers serving the El Paso community, the Department of Community and Human Development Retired and Senior Volunteer Program hosted the 2008 Older El Pasoan Hall of Fame Ceremony on May 9, 2008.
The purpose of this event was to honor four senior volunteers out of the many nominated for their outstanding service and dedication to the community.
This year the outstanding senior volunteers recognized are:
Magdalena Mendoza, Hal Kaufman, Baby Ruth Boswell and Dorotha Muñoz
Older El Pasoans Hall of Fame winners – (age group 85 and above) Dorotha Munoz, (age group 65 – 84) Hal Kaufman, Baby Ruth Boswell, and Magdalena Mendoza.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program exists to provide enrichment of older adults’ lives through significant community service. It is a national program with 758 projects throughout the United States. There are 480,000 volunteers nationwide assigned to 65,300 community organizations. RSVP is part of the National Senior Service Corporation.
The purpose of RSVP is to provide enrichment for older adults through significant community service work. It encourages seniors to bring a lifetime of talent, experience, skills and hobbies to community projects and organizations needing volunteer talent.
