Ysleta Park: Breaking Ground!
Join District 6 Representative Eddie Holguin, Jr., the City of El Paso's Departments of Parks & Recreation and Community and Human Development in celebrating the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. for improvements done at the Ysleta Park located at 9068 Socorro Rd. The event is open to the public.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funded the park improvements to include installation of modular skate park equipment, new irrigation, a 10-foot walking/jogging path, a rock wall, light poles, trash receptacles, benches, picnic tables with shelters, wheelchair ramps and sidewalk accessibility, 50 trees, re-conditioned trenches with Bermuda, a double-sided park name sign, park rule signs and a skate park rule. The improvements were funded in the 31st CDBG Year (2005-2006) for $594,604 to include both design and construction.
Guest speakers will include District 6 Representative Eddie Holguin, Jr. and Robert Gott, Senior Grants Planner for the Department of Community and Human Development. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
