Services in Sports Available to the Community at Parks and Rec Centers
City Parks and Recreation Services in Sports
The City Parks and Recreation Department with its multitude of recreation centers, senior centers and aquatic facilities also has almost 250 sport fields under its jurisdiction.
| The fields located all over the city include: |
| 1. Baseball/Softball |
56 fields - 47 are lighted |
| 2. Tennis Courts |
40 courts - 32 are lighted |
| 3. Basketball Courts |
59 courts - 18 are lighted |
| 4. Soccer Fields |
92 fields - 6 are lighted |
| 5. Football Fields |
22 fields - 1 is lighted |
| 6. Handball Courts |
7 courts - 2 are lighted |
| 7. Skateboard Parks |
6 parks - 1 is lighted |
The Sports Division of the Department controls many of these fields and courts, some of which can be reserved through the sports office by calling 534-0254.
Practice, Competitive, Recreational and Instructional leagues take place at these various facilities on a daily basis, 365 days a year. The Division is also responsible for organized youth, adult and teenage sports that run in the thousands by numbers of participants.
Douglas Barnes, superintendent for the Sports Office and new in charge of the division says, "We look to provide quality services for all the citizens of El Paso." Barnes a 30-year employee of the department looks to further enhance the customer service levels at the sports office and to attain even more participation in their events.
