Downtown Construction Update: CBD III
Ongoing construction continues on schedule in the Central Business District Phase III City initiative to reconstruct major streets in the Downtown area
The Engineering Department continues to work with Downtown business owners and the Central Business Association to schedule and begin improvements and the reconstruction of streets in the downtown area as part of the Central Business District Phase III (CBD III) street & drainage initiative. CBD III is the third phase in prior City projects that have sought to completely reconstruct major downtown streets.
- Construction in this initiative commenced on February 6, 2006
- Overall completion is expected in the summer of 2008
The scope of work for all projects within this initiative will be the same, consisting of the removal and replacement of existing asphalt pavement with concrete, sidewalks and driveways, and will also include the replacement of existing traffic signals and existing street lighting. The improvement project will also upgrade all existing water and sanitary sewer lines.
Construction sites recently completed and now open to the public include:
- Franklin St. from Santa Fe to Oregon
- Initiated February 16th
- Completed May 3rd
- Finished one month ahead of schedule
- Mesa St. from San Antonio to Texas
- Initiated February 16th
- Completed May 17th
- Completed on schedule
Current projects underway with an expected construction period of four months include:
- Mesa St. from Mills to Main
- Stanton St. from Franklin to Wyoming
Continual construction updates on projects initiated and completed under the CBD III initiative will be provided.
