"Lions, and Tigers and Giraffes, Oh My!"
Your El Paso Zoo will soon experience a major makeover thanks to the City of El Paso 2000 Quality of Life Bond initiative. Four major projects scheduled to be completed in the next few years include: entry complex, El Paso Water Utilities Education Center, reptile exhibit building, desert exhibit building and major African exhibits. The ambitious project helps replace some out of date facilities as well as continue the Zoo's geographic theme representing the major continents, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
Design plans are now nearing completion and construction is scheduled to start sometime within the year. Formal exhibit openings will be scheduled starting in 2008 through 2009 as animals are introduced into their new habitats.
Zoo expansion projects completed over the past few years include new support facilities, sea lion exhibit, warehouse and employee lounge, animal holding building, quarantine barn, remodeled commissary and expanded administration building.
Don't wait! Come spend a day at the Zoo enjoying our pleasant surroundings and becoming more involved in animal conservation activities.
