Take Part in Celebrating "See America Week"

The El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau invites El Pasoans to celebrate See America Week (formally known as National Tourism Week) at the annual travel fair and Spirit of Amigo luncheon on May 18, 2006, at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center.

The festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. with a travel fair, where tourism stakeholders have the opportunity to showcase all the attractions, events and businesses in the city and region. The luncheon will begin afterwards at 12:00 p.m. and will feature a special guest speaker and the annual presentation of the Spirit of Amigo award. Everyone is invited to attend and asked to call for a reservation. Tables will be $250.00 and individual seats are $25. Prices will increase after May 1, 2006. For more information or to reserve space, please contact915-534-0681.

The Spirit of Amigo program was developed to form partnerships with individuals that would result in the continual promotion of the city of El Paso and what it has to offer. The program has evolved from partnerships to relationships that are the heart of the Spirit of Amigo. "We called the program 'Spirit of Amigo' because we feel that everyone in El Paso extends a feeling of friendship to visitors and guests," said William Blaziek, General Manager of the El Paso CVB. "We want people who belong to large organizations to invite more people to El Paso so they can experience that same spirit of friendship."

The essence of Spirit of Amigo lies in the simplicity and sincerity of positive word of mouth promotion. Those who promote El Paso are considered Ambassadors of the city and help the CVB's mission to continually increase economic growth by attracting organizations and tourists to visit El Paso.
