- A Cardio Kick Boxing Class will also be starting at the San Juan Center, 701 N. Glenwood on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The class fee is $20 a month. The second class being offered by the center includes an Aerobics Class from Monday through Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The class fee is $20 a month. The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department’s William W. Cowan aquatic facility (formerly the Shawver Park facility) at 8100 Independence will remain closed until further notice. The HVAC system is still in the process of being replaced. The facility has been closed since March due to extensive renovations to the building’s HVAC system.
Additionally, the Theraputic and Instructional aquatic facility at 9031 Viscount (inside the Multipurpose Recreation Center) will temporarily close for a couple days on May 2nd and 3rd (Friday and Saturday) for a filtration system replacement.

- Gary Del Palacio Community Center will have a Spring Arts Affair from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 3 at the center located at 3001 Parkwood. The event is an annual celebration of having Mother’s Day Arts and Crafts for Children. Vendors are still needed! For more information, call the center at 629-7312
- On May 7th, the San Juan Recreation Center will have an After School Mother’s Day Fashion Show from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the central El Paso Parks and Recreation facility. Various dress attire will be displayed by the youngsters in celebration of moms. For more information, call 779-2799.
